Darius Glover ‘Fastest Paralyzed Man On A Dirt Bike’ Wins 2012 Extremity Games
James Stewart may claim to be the world’s fastest man on a dirt bike….but Darius Glover is currently the world’s fastest ‘paralyzed’ man on a dirt bike. Darius has been practicing at Millsaps’ MTF Training Facility and his hard work is paying off. On May 26th, Darius was crowned “2012 Extremity Games Motocross Champion”. His ultimate goal is to one day win a title at the Loretta Lynn Amateur Motocross Nationals. Earlier this year Darius was cleared by the AMA to race at Loretta’s, but a crash at the Gatorback Winter Nationals in January, forced him to sit out of the 2012 Loretta qualifiers with a broken pelvis.
Baja Acres Motocross Park, located in Millington Michigan, held the 7th annual 2012 Extremity Games. The facility hosted two separate motocross classes, a “limb-loss” class and a “limb difference” class (paralysis). Darius took the overall win in the limb difference class. The victory gave Darius his first ever title …”2012 Extremity Games Motocross Champion”. Riding a modified Honda CR 450f, Darius pulled the holeshot in both of his motos for a 2-1 overall win. Mike Schultz was the champion in the limb loss class. Having a daughter of my own in a wheelchair, it is truly astonishing what Darius and the other riders, are able to do on a dirt bike. Riders such as Nick Pappas, Jim Wazny, Nick Mardis, Mike Schultz, and Darius Glover kept the throttle pinned, often clocking lap times as fast as the track’s best riders.
Darius was all smiles as he described his victory to friends and reporters. Chronic MX is proud to be one of Darius Glover’s sponsors in his quest for a Loretta Title. The next two big events for Darius will be the upcoming 2012 Ponca City Amateur Motocross Nationals and the 2012 Gatorback Mini Olympics in the fall. Congratulations to Darius Glover and all the riders who competed in this year’s 2012 Extremity Games. We will continue to report on Darius Glover and his progress towards becoming a future Loretta Lynn Champion. Cheers, Rocket 88.
