Gnarly Hangtown crash ruins Mike Alessi’s start to the 2011 outdoor motocross season
Chronic MX’s friend and frequent floridian rider, Mike Alessi, was supposed to have a brilliant start to the 2011 outdoor motocross season today. He had built up some good positive momentum heading into the end of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross season…finally finding “the holeshot” again that he is so infamous for. On top of building that momentum, he also now finds himself on the KTM 450f…a serious bump up in power from the 350f he has been riding all year. There was much gossip heading into Hangtown as to how Decoster’s rider would do today. Lap times were looking awesome and he seemed ready to finally make his mark after so much bad luck recently. Unfortunately though, Alessi took a brutal pounding to the body in a crash during practice. His rear tire hit a kicker upon takeoff at the gnarly Hangtown track. Alessi found himself sailing over the handlebars and head first into the California dirt…a scary reminder of his horrifying crash at Red Bud a few years back. He seemed to be shaken and in pain, as he was driven off of the track in the company of his dedicated father and the asterisks medical crew. Unable to start Moto 1, Alessi’s season opener was far from what he had in mind. The Alessi’s released this statement shortly afterwards : …”a freak crash in the final practice session put him (Alessi) out for the event with a concussion and with orders from the asterisk medical crew not to return to racing until the third round of the series at Hi Point Raceway in Mount Morris.” Hopefully Mike is ok and he can make a solid rebound at Mount Morris. Hang in there Mike, get better quickly, this could still be your season to shine! Cheers, Rocket 88
