The Red Bull AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn Ranch is a six-day motocross summer vacation that assembles the best 42 riders in 34 classes based on age, skill and displacement. Since 1982, almost ever single rider hoping to become a professional motocross racer has competed at Loretta Lynn’s. The idea for the race was born in 1981  when motocross promoter Dave Coombs was visiting the property with his wife. Loretta Lynn’s is the most highly regarded amateur motocross championship in the world. Amateur racers across the country must qualify spread in local regional events between April and June to be invited to race in their respective classes. For one week of the year in August, riders race in three separate 20 minute motos to prove their skills.  The premises become packed with thousands of fans, racers, sponsors and scouts. Motocross Legends of the last three decades all proved Lorettas as a giant stepping stone into stardom and success of professional racing…such as Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart.
