Mike Alessi Wins Moto 1 At The 2012 Washougal Motocross; Dungey Takes Overall

Someone finally put a stop to Ryan Dungey’s impressive winning streak at this year’s Washougal Motocross National… Mike Alessi. Alessi has been building momentum and riding well, and used that drive to win Moto 1 at round 8 of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Outdoor Nationals. As great a win as it was for Alessi and Team Moto Concepts, it wasn’t enough to stop Ryan Dungey’s overall winning streak. Dungey won Moto 2, and once again took the overall win, making it win number six in a row. Dungey is dominating the 450 class, and he definitely plans on taking home the 2012 450 Outdoor Motocross Title. The real racing action has actually been in both the lites class and the women’s motocross class. In the lites class, the top 5 riders continue to give the fans what they came to see…’bar to bar’ racing action. Though Blake Baggett has proven that he may currently be the fastest lites rider out there, a few inconsistent motos due to crashes, have opened the door for both Team Honda Geico rider’s Justin Barcia and Eli Tomac. Each one taking turns to slip into the lead and give serious challenge. Right behind them, KTM’s Ken Roczen and Marvin Musquin are reaching podium victories themselves. The overall season points are still tight and they are all battling for the title. The women’s motocross class is just as close, with Jessica Patterson leading Tara Geiger and Ashley Fiolek. Washougal continues to be one of the most surreal venues on the tour, providing beautiful weather, amazing lush mountain scenery, and cheering fans dotting the picturesque track. Stay tuned for what is sure to be more intense racing as battles for overall titles are heating up. Cheers, Chronic MX.

That first 450 moto was probably one of the best duels that we have seen in the class for a while. It’s good to see Alessi winning one.
