Privateer Tommy Weeck has impressive ride at 2011 Washougal Outdoor Motocross

Hats off to a young privateer that only rides one national a year…yet runs up front passing the Pros when that time comes. Tommy Weeck did just that accomplishment this weekend. Apparently Weeck is a local WA boy, has little backing, and is a privateer married to the Washougal track owner’s daughter.  Weeck put it all on the line at Washougal and rode his home track like a champ. He chased factory riders Justin Barcia and Ryan Sipes attempting to creep onto the podium and actually made some key passes stick, for an eventual 6th place finish in Moto 1…very impressive. I think both Barcia and Sipes where pretty much dumbfounded as to who the mystery rocket rider was that passed them. Sure Weeck has a home-track advantage, but Chronic MX knows a lot of kids in similar shoes, and they certainly aren’t passing Justin Barcia on their home track! Unfortunately Moto 2 didnt go as well for Weeck as he got a bad start, then laid his bike down in a sharp rutted berm. Hopefully the talented privateer caught some eyes with his Moto 1 ride and can maybe land a fully sponsored ride one day soon. So chalk one up for the privateers! Congrats Tommy Weeck, Cheers Rocket 88
