Salt Lake City Supercross ends James Bubba Stewart’s 2011 title hopes
Unfortunately all of you James Stewart fans are not feeling very “pumped up” on this Sunday, May 1, 2011. Last night’s supercross race in Salt Lake City marked an end to Bubba’s 2011 Monster Energy Supercross title hopes. In yet another solo crash caused by single rider error, James Stewart threw away a nice lead, with a front tire washout, and watched his contenders pass by. Even worse is that before attempting an expected fight to get back to the front of the pack, James crashed immediately after remount, in the whoops, and that kissed his title hopes goodbye. Unable to reach the podium, James could do nothing but cruise the track a lap behind and watch his rival, Ryan Villopoto, take the win right in front of him. Villopoto was joined on the podium by Chad Reed in second, and Ryan Dungey in third. Ryan Villopoto’s win was exactly what the team Kawasaki rider needed in order to create a small cushion of safety heading into Las Vegas, the final race of the 2011 supercross season. Anything could still happen though, and as tight as the points are, you can bet that both Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey are still in it to win…but an obviously dejected Stewart, admitted his defeat and inability to take home the 2011 title in this post race interview clip. Cheers Rocket 88.
